HeadshotDC
HeadshotDC is a Washington D.C. headshot studio, founded by photographer Moshe Zusman in 2003. Zil Studio built the identity and the pieces it lives on: ten across six disciplines, from a slate-mounted mark and Moshe’s business cards to studio signage, crew shirts, a blog layout and the screen clients pay on.
A headshot studio is a brand you stand inside
HeadshotDC sells one thing: a photograph of a person, made in a room they walk into once. That room is where nearly all of the brand exposure happens. The hanging banner, the poster on the wall, the mug in their hand while the lights get set, the shirt the crew is wearing. None of it is advertising. It is the environment the product is made in, and for most clients it is the only version of the brand they ever see.
The mark had to survive that environment. It is monochrome by design: a wordmark inside a rule box carrying the photographer’s name and the founding year, so it holds mounted on slate, printed on a card, sitting on a shirt, or scaled down to a payment terminal. A room built for controlled light is an unforgiving place for a logo that depends on colour.
The rest is ordinary business. A Black Friday campaign, a blog layout, the screen a client sees when they pay. Work like this has no endpoint, which is why it is filed here as ten pieces rather than one project.
The mark
A wordmark in a rule box carrying the photographer’s name and founding year, built to hold at any size on slate, card, shirt or screen.
The room
Banner, poster, mug and crew shirts are all seen by the person being photographed, so the studio itself carries the identity.
Range
Brand identity, print, signage, apparel, web and campaign, all for one client and all in the same register.
Ten pieces, six disciplines
